A Revue in Miniature
Book and lyrics by Edward J. Mason
Music by Basil Hempseed with Dorothy Summers
Marjorie Westbury
Dennis Folwell
John Bentley
Godfrey Baseley
The Revue Nonet
Produced and compered by Martyn C. Webster
This is the second of a series of short revues, written by different Midland authors and composers. It owes its name to the general idea that each item in the show is a follow-on from that preceding it. Thus, train (of thought) suggests journey by railway, which, in its turn, suggests holidays, and holidays suggest extra expense.
The author of the book for the second revue has contributed to 'Radio Cracker', and he wrote material for Stanley Holloway's film. Basil Hempseed is a nephew of Edith Hempseed , the Birmingham pianist ; he wrote music for some of Martyn Webster 's monthly ' Cocktail ' series. The sketches include one about a duel and another about a newspaper office. All the artists are well-known Midland radio players.
