tLEONARD CLARK talks about
Nicholls's Forest of Dean which has recently been reprinted
This famous survey, a model of its kind. is a combination of two books. The Forest of Dean, An Historical and Descriptive Account published in 1858, and Iron Making in the Olden Times, As Instanced in the Ancient Mines, Forges, and Furnaces of the Forest of Dean published in 1866. The author, the Rev. H. G. Nicholls , was vicar of Drybrook for nearly twenty years. Leonard Clark was himself brought up in the Forest and has written about it.
