Relayed from the Queen's Hall, London
Sir HENRY J. WOOD and his SYMPHONY
ORCHESTRA
Mme. AKSAROVA (Soprano)
TUDOR DAVIES (Tenor)
FRANK LAFFITTE (Solo Pianoforte)
THE Composer of these pieces was born at
Northampton in 1905, and received his musical training at the Royal Academy of Music, at which institution he is now a Professor of Harmony.
The Preludes have no definite 'programme,' but are attempts to picture fleeting moods. They are quite short-the second one being but a few bars in length. No. 1 starts boldly but after reaching a climax dies away to almost nothing. No. 3 is in Waltz time and is built on a swinging tune given out by the 'Cello. No. 4 is scored for Horns and muted Strings. No. 5 is very rhythmic and quick.
