NORMANDY is the province of apple-blossom
* and cider, of Bayeux and Caen and Lisieux and Rouen, of some of the most famous buildings in France and half the names we learnt in history at school, it is an ideal place for a holiday, and after hearing Mr. Molony's talk, some of ns may begin to regret that we did not hear it earlier in the year.

: Let's be jolly-in other words, there will be songs with choruses, led by Dale Smith and taken from ' Gaudeamus' and ' The Scottish Students' Song Book.' ' Foozle's Brilliant Idea ' will introduce a new series of amusing School Stories by Gunby Hadath. Cyril Nash will tell in Longfellow's verse the story of Hiawatha and Mudjekeewis '
HARVEST time is always, in communities that live on the produce of the soil, an occasion for many customs whose origin is often lost in antiquity. Such is the serving of the ' Hollering Pot'—the jug of home-brewed ale with which the farmer's wife would reward the harvesters when, having finished their work, they sang the Harvest Chant. Mr. Ramsay will describe this and other harvest customs, many of which, though quite suited to appear in books of folklore beside the barbaric ceremonies of Africa and the East, are still being performed in English villages at this seasofi of the year.

THE names of Laddie Cliff and Leslie Henson J- are a valuable asset to the cast of any musical show—and in Lady Luck these two versatile comedians have things all their own way. They play the parts of Biff Morton and Wyndham Bleugh , two speculators, who lose all their money in a copper-mine. There never was a musical comedy yet which ended unhappily, so listeners need not waste their pity on 'Biff' and 'Windy'. The woman in the case' is Phyllis Monkman , the ' Lady Luck' who brings the two bankrupts prosperity.

AFRICA, the Dark Continent that was a mystery to our grandfathers, is little less of a mystery to us—even after sixty years of exploration and colonization and annexation and exploitation have done their worst. Sir Frederick Lugard 's experience of Africa dates back to 1885, when ho served in the Sudan ; three years later he was wounded by slave-dealers on Lake Nyasa , and since then he has held many administrative posts in both West and East Africa, finally being Governor-General of Nigeria from 1914 to 1919. Obviously, therefore, his opportunities of forming an opinion on Africa's many problems have been exceptionally large.

FROM the time when the ships of Solomon sailed to Ophir, the sea has called forth the highest endeavour and the greatest valour of men of action. This programme will strive to give some glimpses of the men who braved the perils of the sea-in the ships of Solomon, in the Roman galleys in the time of Ben Hur , in little-known adventures off our own coast today, and in the whalers that hunt the biggest animal that lives.
