Adapted from a French Farce of the Fifteenth Century by Mathurin Dondo
Characters: [see below]
Scene: Paris, many years ago-outside the pastry-cook's shop on a cold, late afternoon
Play adapted for broadcasting and produced by Cyril Wood

Laughter is welcome, at all seasons of the year, but in summer particularly our inclinations in matters of plays are more in the direction of comedy than of strong, serious drama. Tonight we continue 'Summer Laughter' with this amusing and simple little French farce, which was postponed from the first programme of the series. There is doubtless a moral somewhere in the play, if you care to look for it, but for those disinclined to make the mental effort there is plenty of good, honest, knockabout fun.
