The Reverend S. J. Nisbet Wallace served his first curacy at All Souls,' Langham Place, London. He was temporary Chaplain to the Forces in Gallipoli, Egypt, Salonica and France during the Great War and has been Rector of Trowbridge since 1929. The poet Crabbe was Rector of the parish from 1814 until his death in 1832; he is buried in the chancel.

The Ministers' Widows' Fund was formed in 1775, and ever since has granted some maintenance to necessitous Widows and Orphans of Ministers of the Presbyterian, Independent and Baptist denominations in England and Wales.
