Miss Mary Maddock is a native of Tonypandy, from whence have come many famous singers. The pianoforte was her instrument when she was a student at the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, Cardiff, and later she studied singing in London.

The Monmouthshire County Council approved of the establishment of an Organization to be known as 'The Monmouthshire County Association for the Blind,' whose duty it shall be to care for the 779 blind persons now registered in the Administrative County of Monmouthshire.
