'Nothing venture, nothing have' is an applicable proverb as far as 'Sardines for Tea' is concerned. A faded little spinster, Martha Spinner, in search of romance, has the temerity to insert a matrimonial advertisement in the newspaper.
Her action is rewarded by the arrival on her doorstep of two applicants, and listeners will then learn how so unromantic a commodity as sardines may possibly enter the romantic lists without causing great embarrassment.
