A Broadcast Version of the Film
Play.
This film-play was adapted by June Mathis from Edith O'Shaughnessy 's novel, " The Viennese Medley." The plot centres round the city of Vienna and shows the terrible changes wrought in its life by the Great European War. It has been said that the Cinema provides a novel in picture form. It is hoped that this innovation in radio will enable you to follow a novel in the form of sound. The descriptions of the story-teller will take the place of the sub-titles, dialogue and sound effects will supply the scenes, and a background of orchestral music, similar to that played for the film, will lend a suitable emotional atmosphere to the unfolding of the story.
The broadcast version of the film-play has been specially written by Alan Griff.
