Appeal on behalf of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, by Viscount ULLSWATER
FOUNDED in 1884 as a London organization, the N.S.P.C.C. soon became so useful that its work had to be extended to the whole country, and it received its present title in 1889. Since its formation, over 3,600,000 children have benefited by its activities, and every year now its 250 men and women inspectors protect some 100,000 children from cruelty or neglect.
Lord Ullswater, who will make the appeal, is
Chairman of the Society. He is well remembered as Speaker of the House of Commons-an office that he occupied when the Children Act was passed. Contributions should be sent to him at[address removed]
