A Real Kwintra Programme wi' a Gweed Pucklie Turns in a Gey Short Fylie includin'
Fiddlin', Singin', Speakin', an' A' Thing

' Full Measure ' is one of those North-East countryside programmes for which Aberdeen is particularly notable. There will be the usual ingredients of fiddling and singing country tunes and songs, with supporting stories. As usual, the greater part of the speech will be in North-East dialect
It is customary these days to deplore the decline of the vernacular, but there is little sign, in the North-East of Scotland at least, that the old tongue is in imminent danger of extinction. Visitors from the South to the Highland Show which was held in Aberdeen this year had reassuring evidence that the vernacular is almost as widespread and vigorous as ever. It is doubtful, however, what percentage of the dialect words is properly understood by a Glasgow or even an Edinburgh audience. The description of the programme as given above, for example, would puzzle not a few.
