On Friday, the special School Transmissions finish for the summer. History has been in the very capable hands of Dr. W. Douglas Simpson, M.A., F.S.A., lecturer on British History at the University of Aberdeen. In eleven lectures, Dr. Simpson has briefly discussed the "Great Empires of the Ancient World," beginning with the "Kingdom of the Pharaohs" and ending with the "Holy Roman Empire." He has shown what each Empire's contribution to the world's history has been and how history is a study of the growth of countries and of policies and tendencies, and not so much a matter of dates. Apart from School Transmissions, Dr. Simpson has already given many interesting talks from the Aberdeen Station, and is well-known as an archæologist of considerable eminence
