Stephen Grenfell is the storyteller.
It is September 10, 1958. In the mist of the Arabian Sea a French and a Liberian tanker collide. Both ships burst into flames. In the Gulf of Oman the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Bulwark (Captain P. F. Gick, O.B.E., D.S.C., R.N.) is engaged in special exercises with other Royal Naval units. She receives the SOS and sets off to the tankers at full speed. The subsequent lifesaving, rescue, and salvage operation, in which Bulwark was aided by naval frigates and the R.A.F., was an outstanding feat of salvage and seamanship.
Script by Stephen Grenfell
