A play for broadcasting by Leonard Cottrell from the story by Stacy Aumonler
British Officers, N.C.O.s.
Arabs, etc. by Rolf Lefebvre , William Eedle
Ronald Baddiley and members of the cast
Produced by Archie Campbell
The action takes place in the village of Ashalton and overseas
Period: 1914-1918
Neither the wonders of strange new lands nor the terrors of the battlefield made much impression on the imperturbable Ned Pickelkin. As the 1914-1918 war dragged on to its final stages, his thoughts remained fixed on the village he had once served as postman, on his mother, waiting for him at their cottage door, and above all on his beloved Irish terrier — Toffee! Would he ever see them again, he wondered.
