Part 1
by Michael Hayes
When he was in Australia Michael Hayes tried many jobs, but found that of a taxi driver the most congenial. He had a cab in Sydney. His job got him mixed up with two-up schools, baccarat hide-outs and sly-grog joints; but there were also the hot starry nights, when he would drive out to Bondi beach or Manly, where he would take time off for a swim. It was a good life; crowded and colourful.
