An expedition sent out by Oliver Cromwell took the West Indian island of Jamaica from the Spaniards in May, 1655. Jamaica has been celebrating the anniversary since the beginning of this year.

A.E.T. Henry, a Jamaican journalist living in London, introduces excerpts from recordings which illustrate the island's development and progress during its 300 years' association with Britain.
