Alec was found guilty on one count, and sentenced at the Old Bailey to six months' imprisonment. He was sent to Brixton. Dr. Dale had a reply about the holiday exchange advertisement from a Dr. Victor Drew with a practice at Stonechurch, a seaside town; the Dales decided to visit Stonechurch at the week-end. Dr. Gardiner moved into the ' Sutherland.' Richard Fulton gave Nurse O'Malley notice, then changed his mind and sent her flowers. Mrs. Mountford began to spoil Ferne, feeding him with chocolate cake; consequently he got into the habit of slipping away from the Dales and going into her garden. Mrs. Dale wondered whether they should move into somewhere smaller to save money; she saw a possible house in another part of Parkwood Hill.
