Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife, records the daily happenings in the life of her family
Script by Jonquil Antony
Gwen admitted that she was going to have another baby. Billy was given exactly the same sort of birthday present by both Mrs. Morgan and Monument, which created ill-feeling between them. Grandfather Dale decided that Miss Marchbanks could not fit in as his housekeeper and so Miss Mountford and Mrs. Dale set about obtaining better conditions for her if she did go back to Mrs. Mountford. Despite breakdowns, Sally and Fulton got to Brighton in the car driven by Fickling in the Veteran Car Race. Raffaele recommended a head vendeuse for ' Stephanie ' : he also suggested that Fulton ought to make some enquiries into the financial position of Denby Harris.

Freighter No. 2 of the Mars Fleet crashed some sixty miles north of where the land fleet was camped. Jet tried to reach the wreck before darkness fell, but failed and had to halt for the night on a hill overlooking a purple plain. Then, during the night, a mysterious light was seen moving across the plain below them. Next day the wreck was located and Jet and his companions finally reached it only to find signs that told them another machine had already reached No. 2 and carried off its crew.
