Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife, records the daily happenings in the life of her family
Script by Jonquil Antony
Tony Coppard alarmed Sally by hinting that Denby Harris was financially unsound. Mrs. Mountford upset Miss Marchbanks who was persuaded to stay with the Dales for a few days, and Mrs. Freeman tried to arrange for Miss Marchbanks to go as housekeeper to Grandfather Dale, who had decided to lend Joan money for a farm. Fickling disclosed that he owned an old car and had entered for the Veteran Car Run. Gwen had still not decided about the new fiat, and Mrs. Dale suspected that Gwen was having another baby. Mrs. Date started a library for the Talents Scheme and inadvertently offended Mrs. Vyner.

A short while after the Discovery had made a bad landing on Mars, cargo freighter No. i landed safely. Jet and Mitch stepped from the flagship on to the surface of the Red Planet in great excitement and set about collecting scientific data, but were overtaken by a thick fog. They started back in the wrong direction; then Jet saw what he took to be the ship's searchlight and walked towards it. Soon afterwards, however, Lemmy declared that, according to the radio fix he had taken with the help of No. I, Jet and Mitch were still walking away from the Discovery.
