hands over tonight's programme to the Younger Generation of Welwyn Garden City
Five weeks ago the under-twenties of Welwyn Garden City were challenged to devise, script, and portray their own picture of the place they live in. Auditions have been open to all comers, and the result can be heard in this programme.
Parade has provided mobile recording facilities for outside interviews and commentaries, the use of a studio for dramatised scenes and narrative links, professional advice when requested, and the services of a producer throughout the day's studio rehearsal when the programme was assembled and until the final recording was made. Responsibility for choice of material, and for the scripting from start to finish has been in the hands of a committee of under-twenties chosen at a general meeting. During the programme the under-twenties will interview Flora Robson, the stage and screen actress, who was one of the City's first residents, and R. G. Gosling, Chairman of the Welwyn Garden City Development Corporation.
