A programme for children under five
Nursery rhymes, stories, and music
It is not only our ' under fives ' who sometimes realise a loss when they go to school and have to give up their programme; it may happen to mothers, too. ' Much to my surprise,' writes one, 'I found a big lump in my throat when I happened to turn on the programme one day. The sudden realisation that these happy times of listening together were over came as a great shock. But it is happy feature of our young audience that, as some of its members move away, others are drawn in. There can hardly be a day when the attention of some very small child is not caught, for the first time, by some part of the programme. Thus mother finds herself again ' rushing to tune in at 1.45.'

Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife, records the daily happenings in the life of her family
Script by Jonquil Antony
Last week the Dales' grandfather clock stopped and Dr. Dale set about repairing it. Bob helped him to dismantle the works and laid all the parts on the dining-room table. In the midst of this operation Dr. Dale was called out to an accident, and left word that no one was to use the dining-room. Unfortunately the window cleaner called and let Jemima's kitten into the room-who playfully scattered the parts all over the room. When Dr. Dale eventually reassembled the clock it was still found to be inaccurate, so he took it to a watch-maker, who explained that a small wheel was missing. Dr. Dale in a determined effort to find the wheel searched through the dustbins.
Bob took" up his new position with Malcolm Reeves. Mrs. Sandiman tried to persuade the Dales to take part in a Coronation Pageant which she was endeavouring to organise. Later Mrs. Freeman told Mrs. Dale that the bank manager was also producing a pageant.
