Nursery rhymes, stories, and music
Half way through December, and Christmas in every mind! 'Listen with Mother,' too, in its music and its tales begins to reflect the coming of the festive season. Today Daphne Oxenford tells of some rather special Christmas shopping in the story of The Twin Dressing Gowns,' by Nancy Braham. On Wednesday Dorothy Smith touches on other Christmas themes in M. M. Connelly 's ale ' The Christmas Card' and Helen Christison 's rhyme ' This is the Cake,' and on Friday she describes the events at a Sunday School Christmas Party-the one attended by that naughty little sister-in Dorothy Edwards ' ' Naughtiest Story of all.'
Tomorrow's poetic little tale, ' The
Holly and the Chestnut Tree,' by T. Mallin , to be read by Julia Lang , reminds us of the welcome beauty of the holly in our homes at Christmas time, while Ursula Hourihan 's story, ' The Surprise Christmas Tree,' must keep its secret until Daphne Oxenford tells it on Thursday.
Our music for the week includes
' Christmas is coming,' I saw three ships,' ' There was a p:g went out to dig,' and a favourite carol of all small children, ' Rocking.'
Catherine Edwards introduces the songs and stories this week and next.

Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife, records the daily happenings in the life of her family
Script by Jonquil Antony
Last week when Mrs. Dale and her mother re-turned from Christmas shopping, they found that Grandfather Dale had arrived from Scotland. He was set on the idea of having his great-grandson's photograph taken, holding the family rattle. This greatly worried Gwen because she could not find it. As the photographer arrived, Mrs. Freeman discovered she had gathered up the rattle in the loose covers she was making for Gwen as a Christmas present. Malcolm Reeves telephoned to Bob to see if he would like two theatre tickets. When Bob called at Reeves' flat he told Bob he could help him make a little money, and suggested he called to see him at his office on his next afternoon off. Trudi told Bob she was gong home to Switzerland for Christmas, which seemed to upset him. Miss Pink had lunch with Maud French and agreed to return to her on her own conditions.
