During the war he worked for the Ministry of Labour in the Beveridge Manpower Survey and was in charge of the Nuffield College Social Reconstruction Survey in London. He was one of the British delegates to the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe. His wife is Naomi Mitchison , the authoress.
