2: Siever v. Wootton, 1920
In this celebrated libel action the defendant briefed Sir Edward Carson with Hastings as second silk. The situation in Ulster called Carson away half-way through his cross-examination of the plaintiff. Hastings took over and against the odds secured a verdict for his client.
