Talk by the Very Rev. The Dean of Hereford
On the night of March 22, 1855, a young officer fell before Sevastopol. Captain Hedley Vicars was only twenty-eight but his death was regarded as a national calamity, and he is remembered with love and pride by his family and his regiment (now the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment). The Dean of Hereford, a great-nephew of Hedley Vicars, describes his personality and his influence.
