Britain's kitchens are a disaster zone - we appear clueless when it comes to cookery. Instead of sitting down to a freshly-cooked meal around the dining table Brits are now more likely to sit down to a takeaway in front of the TV.  

One man wants to change this. At just 26, Gordon Jones is head chef at one of the country's leading five star hotels, the Royal Crescent in Bath.  Now he wants to get households cooking tasty, healthy and fresh meals, eating together again and reconnecting with each other. And he'll save them a fortune in the process. 
 
Each episode, he picks two virgin cooks from a household and places them in a seven-day head-to-head cookery competition which starts with him slashing their food budget. By the end of the week the person who has come on the furthest wins the ultimate prize - to cook a three-course menu, of their own design, for 20 to 30 friends and family.

Putney, on the banks of the Thames is home to 20-year-old business studies student Anton Greig. Anton lives in a mansion block with his dad Paul, a classically trained actor and acting coach, his actress sister Gemma and her boyfriend Mario. Ever since the death of his Portuguese mother, Maria, a year ago the family's eating habits have fallen apart. 

Not anymore.  Anton wants things back to how they were and he wants to cook just like his mother. If he manages it, he plans to celebrate his 21st birthday by cooking a lavish dinner party for 30 of his friends and family. 

It's Gordon's biggest personal challenge to date - to take this loveable, laid back student and, in a week, give him the tools to cook just like his mother. But will he succeed without the element of competition?

Roxy sees Sam and is furious her family didn't trust her. Archie finds an angry Roxy in the square. She tells him Sam's hiding in the Vic. 

Bianca's hung over and irritable. Ricky apologises to the kids for missing the party, and comforts Morgan who's worried about his first day at school. Whitney suggests that Bianca tell police about Sam, but Bianca decides she's going to win Ricky the right way.

Minty's nervous - Manda's son Adam is due home. Manda's upset when Adam phones to say he's been delayed a day. Having accidentally discovered that Sam's back, Minty can't stop thinking about her. 

Lucas searches for Trina's bracelet. Zainab finds it whilst sorting out jumble and jokingly confronts Masood, who realises that it must be Lucas'. When Lucas comes to pick the bracelet up, it's gone and Masood realises it's been mixed up with the jumble. Glad to be rid of the bracelet, Lucas prays, thanking God. Whilst taking the jumble to the mosque Syed finds the bracelet, and later gives it to Amira.

Billy plays with Janet and William, and discusses fatherhood with a melancholy Joel. Joel asks Ronnie if she wants to go out that afternoon, just the two of them, but she's too busy to pay him any attention. Joel tells Ronnie to give Roxy some space and she snaps at him. Joel phones his wife, he wants to see his children.

The Yucatan was once a centre of the Mayan empire, and the openings to this watery underworld were sacred. Deep in one of the caverns, close to an ancient temple, a Mayan graveyard contains suspected victims of human sacrifice. The boys have just six days to prove themselves to their trainer for the week, top cave-diver Sam Meacham. If they do, they will assist him in an archaeological expedition to explore this mysterious site. 

For cave-divers death is an ever-present threat and the boys will have to show they can overcome extreme claustrophobia, intense scuba diving drills and an ability to never panic. After failures in Ecuador and Siberia, Ben and Easton are desperate to complete a challenge, but it looks like the smart money is on top watersports athlete Ross for this one.

Presenter George Lamb and a group of doctors advise people with excessive lifestyles how to become healthier and avoid serious illness.

23-year-old Bobbi lives in Plymouth with her partner Adam and her 14-month-old daughter Gabrielle. Bobbi smokes and drinks too much, but even worse is her diet - for nearly 20 years Bobbi has eaten no fruit or veg whatsoever. Her terrible diet consists solely of pizzas, kebabs, burgers, chips, bacon and sausages.  

Her toddler daughter Gabrielle is picking up on her mum's vegetable aversion and is already a fussy eater, preferring baby fast-food to anything made by Bobbi. Bobbi is desperately worried that, like her, Gabrielle will grow up refusing all fresh produce unless she herself changes her poor diet and eating habits.

For Bobbi, all this has led to constant exhaustion, weakness and bad mood swings. Tired all the time and lacking enough energy to run around with her daughter, Bobbi does no exercise and even drives to the shops she can see from her sitting room window. Takeaways and junk food put a strain on the family's budget and Bobbi and Adam end up arguing about money.  

Can no-nonsense nutritionist Alice Sykes expand Bobbi's horizons and in particular her diet? If she can, it might literally add years to Bobbi's life expectancy.
