A programme about a visit to this tiny independent state in the western Himalayas, where rainfall is scanty and where each day the people use the melting glacier water to irrigate the crops in their high remote valley.
The film was taken by Oleg Polunin, who also introduces the programme, during the 1960 Anglo-American Karakoram Expedition.
