Tim Frazer discovers that Ruth Edwards has information which may throw light on the disappearance of Frazer's ex-business partner, Harry Denston. Ruth Edwards decided to tell Frazer all she knows, but is anxious to conceal their meeting from her husband. Frazer drives to Tall-tree Cottage to talk to Ruth while her husband is spending the day in town. On his way there, Frazer stops at the scene of a motor accident. A woman had been seriously injured. It is Ruth Edwards.
