Mark Lamarr's tribute to pop giant Roy Orbison concludes with a shift to the mid-1980s, when he remained a fixture of oldies radio but reached new audiences with Dean Stockwell's mesmerising lipsynching of Orbison's 1963 gem In Dreams in David Lynch 's 1986 film Blue Velvet. A year later Orbison cut a duet of Crying with kd lang and won a Grammy, while his part in supergroup the Traveling Wilburys further cemented the legendary status. He died in 1988, aged 52.
