A new, satirical, six-part series in which ex-music journalists Andrew Collins, Stuart Maconie and David Quantick present anecdotes and advice relating to their former profession, inspired by a live show performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 2001. The series features actress Amelia Bullmore and live music from Edwyn Collins, Roddy Frame and Ian MacNabb.

Andrew Collins, David Quantick and Stuart Maconie team up to spill the beans on the world of music journalism

Lloyd Cole Knew My Father 10.00pm R2
Stuart Maconie, David Quantick and RT film editor Andrew Collins bring their satirical, often surreal and very funny stage show on how they spent time "hacking at the coalface of rock" to Radio 2. In tonight's opener they try to explain what brought them all to work at the NME in the 80s. As Quantick says, "What would entice social misfits from provincial hellholes like, say, Northampton, Wigan and Exmouth to join the world of sex, drugs, travel and free records that is music journalism?" They help to answer this tricky question with stories from their schooldays and early careers mixed with anecdotes, quotes and music from a wide range of artists. Their version of Crossroads, in which Robert Johnson sells his soul to the Devil, and a string of brilliant one-liners (Robbie Williams referred to as "Britain's highest paid redcoat") suggest this will become an unmissable series.
