Chris Stuart describes the scene from the Royal Albert Hall , London, as members of the Royal British Legion gather in the presence of the Queen and members of the Royal Family for the annual service of thanksgiving. Fifty years after the end of the Second World War, and in a year which has seen commemoration and celebration of victory, the traditional moment of remembrance still centres on Armistice Day, reflecting the time when the guns were silenced in 1918. Included in this year's displays is a pageant to mark the part played in the last war by Commonwealth nations. And, for this year only, there is a return of "community singing". Producer David France
