The Turn of the Decades
Fifty years of film soundtrack memories introduced by Chris Kelly.
This week: 1949
Bad guys were never badder than in 1949 - James Cagney went out with a bang in White Heat, Harry Lime fled through the Vienna sewers in The Third Man and Dennis Price quickly disposed of his own family in Kind Hearts and Coronets. It was also the year of great partnerships - Neagle and Wilding in Mayfair, Astaire and Rogers on Broadway, and Tracy and Hepburn back together in Adam's Rib.
