The undisputed voice of Rugby Union; his rich Scottish tones have commented on and about the game for over 20 years. As a dedicated schoolmaster in Hawick in the Border Country, he has admitted to getting more pleasure from teaching Rugby than sitting in front of a microphone.
Serious illness curtailed his own playing career, but, in conversation with Gerald Williams he communicates a love for the game which will inspire millions tuning in to his calm, expert TV commentaries over the next few weeks of the Five Nations' Championship.
