Lawn Tennis
London will be the big attraction for many of the world's leading players during the next three weeks, with three major international competitions: the Dewar Cup. one of the last events in the 1976 Grand Prix; Britain defending the Wightman Cup against the United States; followed by the Benson and Hedges Championships, the last Grand Prix event in Europe this year. Today at the Sobell Centre, in North London, some of the lesser-known players will be attempting to qualify for the draw for the Deu'ar Cup, which starts there on Monday and moves on to the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday night. News of today's qualifying matches from GERALD WILLIAMS, who also talks to some of the stars, and takes a closer look at the Sobell Centre, which has become an important part of London's sporting scene.
