A Birmingham student writes: 'I've heard you state on many occasions that there is nothing essentially wrong in being a Ted, Skinhead Punk or Mod, and that they are perfectly likeable as individuals. I'm sure you are right, but as a group of people all of these cults seem to carry with them an inherent wish for violence. I beiieve, when they wear particular outfits, it is not just fashion, it's a uniform for battle. They are identifying themselves with a breed of people who have violence and vandalism high on the list of entertainments. Such groups are mindless, and joining them is a serious error of judgment.'
