A university student writes: ' On some aspects of the university system. although I would be the first to agree that there are many indispensable courses offered, for example, engineering and chemistry, there are still far too many that are obscure and totally irrelevant outside the world of libraries and lecture theatres. But perhaps just as disturbing is the number of people who use University as a chance for a social life bonanza. doing the minimum amount of work needed. It is depressing at this time of soaring unemployment to see so many scroungers using university facilities for three to four years just for an ideal social life.'
