But she and The Banshees - an early manifestation of which now settled trio boasted Sid Vicious at the drums - have survived this hostility (now largely. replaced with shrill accusations of artiness) to become right-markers in the Sturm und Drang squadrons of European post-punk music. Siouxsie and the Banshees went unrecorded for 21 months after their formation in the autumn of 1976, despite an imposing sequence of potent live performances and two state-of-the-art sessions for Radio 1.
