JOHN PEEL writes:
'An early flirtation with SS-chic during a spell as hand-maiden to the Oedgling Sex Pistols has not been lightly forgiven by Siouxsie's more vulturine critics. But she and The Banshees - an early manifestation of which now settled trio boasted Sid Vicious at the drums - have survived this hostility (now largely. replaced with shrill accusations of artiness) to become right-markers in the Sturm und Drang squadrons of European post-punk music. As angular, barbed and compact as a box of geometry instruments. Siouxsie and the Banshees went unrecorded for 21 months after their formation in the autumn of 1976, despite an imposing sequence of potent live performances and two state-of-the-art sessions for Radio 1. Since signing with Polydor Records, the band has recorded hit singles and a much admired LP The Scream. Tonight you can hear the third resounding session in a matchless sequence.'
