John Peel writes:
'A year ago the John Peel Roadshow limped into Stratford-upon-Avon. The "support" band was a quintet from Leamington Spa called the Shapes. The Shapes were frightful and the John Peel Roadshow left for home secure in the knowledge that it would never hear the little beasts again. It was wrong. Eight weeks ago a record arrived at the BBC featuring such curious titles as "Wots for lunch Mum? (Not Beans Again)", "(I saw) Batman (in the Launderette)." On the strength of this record the Shapes were booked to record a session for Radio 1 and the results of this session are as much an improvement over their record as their record was over their Stratford appearance.'
