Cliff Michelmore is afloat early this morning to meet excited competitors about to set sail in the eighth Carlsberg Single-Handed Transatlantic Race. This famous 3,000 mile race from Plymouth to Newport,
Rhode Island, began in 1960 on the strength of a half-crown wager. Today, 120 sailors will set out for America in boats of all shapes and sizes, assisted by sponsorship, sophisticated equipment and supplies. Producer CAROLINE ELLIOT
