In Two Worlds
A few weeks ago a group of young Asians from Handsworth in Birmingham made a journey to India to experience for themselves, many for the first time, the country their parents or grandparents left behind. It is hoped that there will be many similar exchanges in the years to come, but the main purpose was to give a new generation of Asians, who are often confused and worried about their true identities, pride in being Indian. In this, the second of two programmes about the Asian community in Handsworth, Anita Bhalla hears what happened to them.
