These Modern Ways by Eugene Chirikov in an English version by Basil Ashmore with Thora Hird, Anthony Newlands, Maureen O'Brien and Keith Drinkel.
This is the first performance in English of any play by Chirikov, who was regarded in Russia as Chekhov's successor and was held in high critical regard by Gorky and Stanislavsky. Chirikov's work is largely unknown, but this particular play is one of a quintet entitled Comedies of Provincial Life and which deals with family relationships in a small Russian town at the turn of the last century.

Written and read by James Cameron abridged in five parts by PATRICK MCENROE (1)
"Of the flat in Battersea I recall nothing whatever. I later heard that the adjoining apartment was the home of a talented youth whose name was Noel Coward. There was a Impend in the family to the effect that the gifted youth had at one time upset my pram, including myself, down the landing Stairs; I never followed up this tenuous acquaintanceship. The first of four programmes. The Scottish grouse moors, once the preserve of the aristocracy, are now dominated by business tycoons from Europe and America. They are a major part of one of Britain's biggest money-spinners - the tourist industry.

The accessories are expensive, and tonight Malcolm Billings samples the £8,000 gun and learns how to use it.
