6: Seven Years Solitary with Mary Wimbush as Edith Bone
Edith Bone , born in Budapest, trained as a doctor, was sent to Russia in 1919 on a Red Cross Mission. She became a Communist courier and settled in Britain in 1933. Returning to Hungary in 1949 as a journalist. she was arrested. Objective: to set her up as a Western spy in a highly publicised fake trial.
In solitary confinement in a dark and filthy cell. it looked as if she would stay there for ever. But both captors and victim were to discover realities about themselves which would change their philosophies and their lives.
