Miles Kington visits Berlin to hear a secret archive recorded in German prisoner of war camps during the First World War. Prisoners from across the continent and from every region of Britain recited Bible verses, poems, drinking songs, jokes and life stories. Listening to shellac discs and wax cylinders, Miles hears the voices of those prisoners and sets out to trace their stories and that or the archive itself.
