Great British Menu

Series 15

Finals - Fish

Duration: 59 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two EnglandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Northern Ireland

Today, some of the finest chefs in the UK compete to cook a fish course worthy of serving at a banquet celebrating the success of British children’s literature. Along with the show’s panel of expert judges, the rivals need to impress guest judge Malorie Blackman OBE. Malorie has written nearly 50 books for children and young adults and her novel Boys Don’t Cry has just made it on to the national curriculum.

As ever, the judges are expecting fish courses with both stunning flavour and creativity worthy of the banquet. Battle lines were drawn during the starters yesterday, with one chef securing the first place on the banquet menu. Now, with a taste of what they are up against, the rivals are even more desperate to impress. The chefs need to remain calm under pressure, even when they have a surprise visitor to the kitchen - author Giles Andreae - as one of his books has inspired a dish on the menu today. The incredibly creative fish courses they produce pay tribute to a wide range of authors - from Enid Blyton to Philip Pullman – but only one dish will make it to the banquet. Show less
