The 16th Annual AFI Life Achievement Award, presented in a tribute from Hollywood to this popular actor, the recipient of eight Academy award nominations, opens a special Christmas season of his films. Introduced by Julie Andrews with contributions from
Walter Matthau, Billy Wilder, Roddy McDowall, Janet Leigh, Blake Edwards, Garson Kanin, Neil Simon, Steve Martin and Kevin Spacey (who co-starred with Lemmon in "A Long Day's Journey into Night"), as well as a special rendition of "I've Got a Crush on You" by Shirley Maclaine.
The programme also contains extracts from his many popular films, including "Some Like It Hot", "The Apartment", "The Odd Couple", "Irma La Douce", "Mr Roberts", "It Should Happen to You", "The Days of Wine and Roses" and "That's Life".
