The Borodin Quartet Play Tchaikovsky

on BBC Two England

Mikhail Kopelman (violin)
Andrei Abramenkov (violin) Dmitri Shebalin (viola)
Valentin Berlinski (cello).

Otherwise prolific as a composer, Tchaikovsky wrote remarkably little chamber music. His first string quartet in D major contains the delightful Andante cantabile based on a Russian folk melody. This performance of the work by the world-famous Soviet ensemble was specially recorded at Henry Wood Hall in London.
