Bjorn Borg came to Wimbledon this year to try to win his sixth consecutive title. In the semi-final against Jimmy Connors he came close to defeat in a match full of excellence and excitement. The final was a different story. John McEnroe won his first Wimbledon singles title and ended a remarkable run of victories by a great sportsman.
