Terry Venables: the Man Who Would Be King

on BBC Two England

The story of one of British football's most controversial characters. The son of a dockerfrom Dagenham in east London, TerryVenables rose from humble beginnings to become coach of the England football team. His career has been kaleidoscopic: professional footballer (most notably with Chelsea and Tottenham), singer, writer (the seventies detective series Hazell) and businessman. Family, friends, compatriots and critics all contribute to this warts-and-all portrait.
