Luciano Berio's 1968 masterpiece with Simon Rattle conducting Electric Phoenix and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra leader Felix Kok
'A piece about a symphony and about myths' is Simon Rattle's description of this revolutionary work.
Luciano Berio was born in 1925. For the past 30 years he has been the dazzling experimenter of contemporary music, extending brilliantly the range of both instruments and voices. His Sinfonia has already acquired the status of a 20th-century masterpiece. It is literally a new kind of 'sounding-together' for eight voices and a large symphony orchestra. Berio and Rattle introduce this complete performance, specially designed for television.
