Octagon
Designed by students, run by an ex-lecturer, built in six months, top of a civic popularity poll, a theatre with a totally flexible shape - the Octagon in Bolton is unique.
On its first birthday Derek Nimmo, who started his career in Bolton, looks at the Octagon's success story, the controversy over its latest production, and all the activities which are central to the development of Bolton as a cultural centre.

One Plus One
Jean-Luc Godard, the controversial French film director, with scenes from his first English feature film.
One Plus One was premiered at the London Film Festival this week. It features The Rolling Stones and, in Godard's own words, is about "democracy, fascism, Black Power, music, ideas like that."
